The Warwick and Leamington Malayali Association (WALMA) is a non-profit community organisation formed by the Malayali community from Kerala, India, and based in Warwickshire, England. Established to promote unity, friendship, and cultural pride among Malayalees in the region, WALMA is dedicated to preserving Kerala’s vibrant traditions whilst fostering meaningful cultural exchange within the wider British community.
From its humble beginnings, WALMA has grown into a dynamic and inclusive association that celebrates the spirit of Kerala through a range of cultural, social, and educational activities. Our aim is to create a sense of belonging for Malayalees living away from their homeland and to provide a shared platform to express and preserve our rich cultural heritage. We organise festivals, talent shows, sports events, charity initiatives, and community gatherings that bring together individuals and families in a shared celebration of culture and togetherness.
We actively participate in sports and cultural competitions at both regional and national levels and have proudly won several awards over the years. These achievements reflect the enthusiasm, teamwork, and talent of our members, who continue to make WALMA a vibrant and recognised community.
The association provides opportunities for members of all ages to participate, volunteer, and lead initiatives that enhance their skills, confidence, and social connections. It is a place where children learn about their cultural roots, adults find companionship and purpose, and families come together to build lasting friendships.
Membership of WALMA is open to anyone interested in Kerala’s distinctive traditions, art forms, festivals, and way of life. Through each event and initiative, WALMA continues to strengthen the bonds within our community whilst contributing positively to the rich multicultural fabric of the United Kingdom.
